Bridgestone RE-01R replacement 2009……..RE-11

Well it looks like there very well could be a replacement for the Bridgestone RE-01R. Its a asymmetrical shape i think from what i can gather is that…

1)Better wet traction.
2)Control temp better within the compound.
3)Better steering response.

Bridgestone RE-11 is due out in Japan in mid 2008. We’ll can hope to see it in late late 2008 or early 2009! There is still no word what the tire rating is. Could be 140. We’ll have to wait and see!

Toyo R1R here?

Well looks like the Toyo R1R’s are here. Not official out, but seems like they are stored in a warehouse somewhere and they are selling to local tire shops. 1 person is the US has got them and mounted on some rota slipstreams. Hopefully they will measure up the tires so we know how big they are compared to the competition. But at least we know they will be available very soon to everyone!

Now there is a profile pic of the tires mounted. The R1R’s were 195/50/15 mounted on a 15×7.5 wheel. You can see that they fit pretty good. You can get them thru AIM 195/50/15 are $99. Hopefully someone will be putting up some testing results up soon! Exciting!!!

2009 Corvette ZR1 is here!!!

Its here! The new 2009 Corvette ZR1! We are talking carbon fibred, supercharged, aluminum/magnesium frame, ceramic rotors, 6-pot calipers, 220mph, monster! Tho not 100% official yet. But this is more likely what the new ZR1 going to be. Still specs are not out for the beast yet. They are saying that the engine output is going to 650hp. And the weight is 3400ish LBS. I’m excited! 205whp non-vtec LS engine

Well here is another great dyno graph of a NA 205whp non-vtec LS engine!!! As you can see how nice the power band is. Quite flat just like a turbo car. I say i’m really impressed with this. I can’t complain at all. Would be a great car to drive on the street, autox, or road racing! Time to rethink do you really need k-series just yet?

McLaren Newest Driver

Well the news is out for the newest driver for Mclaren is Heikki Kovalainen! Since Renault has resign 2 time F1 champion Fernado Alonso, Heikki lost his seat. McLaren decided to pick up the 26 year old driver. Now Mclaren is the youngest team in F1. Both are starting there 2nd season in F1. Its going to be exciting!

Race of Champions

Created in 1988 by IMP (International Media Productions) President Fredrik Johnsson and the world’s best female rally driver, Michele Mouton, the ROC remains the only opportunity for drivers to race in exactly the same cars and on a parallel-track. The premise is simple: using identical equipment and track, drivers can prove themselves based on their talent alone.

In 2007, eighteen drivers will compete in a series of knockout heats in their own division to determine their class champion. Then, in a shootout to determine who is the master of motorsport, the winners from the two divisions will go head-to-head in a super final.

The winner is rewarded with the title “The Champion of Champions”.

BMW 1-Series Official Website and Pricing

Well finally the website for the BMW 1-series is up and running. Also, on the site is official pricing! Check the site here. But if your too lazy to check, the price for a 135i is going to start at $34,900US. Its a bit steep for this entry level car. Do you think its worth it? Can the performance out weigh the price? 3.3L turbo charged engine in lighter weight BMW a winner? Really hard to say.

Honda B-series Engine still making great power!

As you know the crazy right now for many many Honda owners is to do a k-series swap into older generations Civic’s and Integra’s(Now K-series kits are offered for Prelude’s and Accord’s, but that’s another story.) But you may not have to just jump into the k-series bandwagon yet! Here’s a dyno plot of a built up B-series engine. Numbers are really quite impressive. 249whp/173wtq!!! Maybe for 1/4 of the cost you can have the power of k-series. Take a look at the plot and think do you really need to make the plunge yet?

Lexus IS-F R???

Well there has been rumors flying around that a IS-F_R. This new Lexus is rumored to have pushed the Yamaha engine to a 429hp and 376 lb-ft. Also, they are going to give the IS-F_R a diet about a 200ish lbs. But the price of this new IS-F_R is going to be steep entry price. About $20,000US more than a regular IS-F. Is this going to worth it? Won’t know since all is rumors!
